Today was our first day of our 2017/2018 Homeschool Year, the first day of 7th grade, AND the Great North American Total Solar Eclipse 2017!
We watched coverage on the Weather Channel about the solar eclipse, built two eclipse viewers from boxes, observed through a welding hood and our viewers. To top the day off we had grilled ribeyes with mushroom sauce, baked potatoes wrapped in bacon, baked beans, and made ECLIPSE COOKIES with a great sugar cookie/frosting recipe and York peppermint patties.

The Time I Caught a Deer
My cousin, my Mama, and I were going to the store one evening. It was dark, and we were within walking distance of our house. Something jumped on the bank beside the gravel road and slid into the ditch. It was a baby deer. It started to run and we couldn't find it for a while. Using a flashlight, we found the deer curled up in the ditch. It lay still. It would not move. I put my hand on it, and then picked it up. Something passed by the back of our truck. As I was turning it loose, the baby deer busted my lip with its head. It ran across the road ,and then disappeared into the brush. When we came back, we did not spot the deer.
And that is the time that I caught a deer.
And that is the time that I caught a deer.
